DIY Handtruck Solar Generator

Over the past couple of years I started a new journey – learning about off grid living. Part of that journey included the acquisition of land in “The Upstate” of South Carolina. This has served as the home base for my off grid living journey. This is where I started to learn about things like water filtration with a rain catchment as well as solar power. On that property I built a small “ground mount” (sort of) solar array that powers our one room cabin, complete with a mini split for heat and AC.

The past couple of weeks I started working on a new project – a Handtruck Solar Generator fully inspired by the work of Will Prowse. This project is currently at my “on grid” home in the Charleston South Carolina area. What I built, based on Will’s designs, is a mostly portable solar generator similar to what you’d get in the consumer-ready systems from companies like Anker or Jackery. This hand truck generator is capable of providing 5Kw of continuous power via (4) 20 amp 120V outlets. It has a 5Kwh battery and is charged (at the moment) with (6) 200 watt Renogy Shadowflux 200 solar panels.

If you’re interested in this sort of thing you can find the details of the build on our Rally Creek website.
